About Me

I started using "online" communications in the mid 80's with the help of BBS' and have been using email and other electronic communication solutions ever since.

I started using a mobile phones (portable & later hand held) in the 1980's on the NMT 450 and 900 networks, the first hand held one was a Mobira Cityman 100 (Nokia's domestic market brand name back in the day), not to be confused with the "brick" with the same name, this was considered a candy bar type. Since then I've mainly had Nokia models such as (in order of model number not as owned) Nokia 101, 1610, 2010, 2110, 2110i, 6110, 6820, 7110, 8110, 9110, 9210, 9300, 9500, E51, E61, E70, N700, N800.

Later I ran across the Sidekick by Danger (Made by Sharp in Japan) aka Danger Hiptop sold by T-Mobile. Ever since I have been a fan of these devices, and have has the Sidekick (1) color, Sidekick 2, Sidekick 3, Sidekick LX.

I have also had a good number of Windows Mobile PDAs and mobile phones for limited times, as none of them really lived up to what I needed. I do however have the first generation of the iPhone and since I am on the T-Mobile USA network I wouldn't be able to utilize the 3G features on the newer iPhone.

I have also had the OQO model 01, 01+, 02 and an 02 with 3G, and a number of Sony so called sub notebooks. With the dawn of the Asus EEE Netbooks, I've had the 701, 900, 900A and 901, for now I've settled for a 900A with some tweaks such as better six cell battery, plan on larger faster SSD drive. I also have an Aigo MID P8860 model with GSM 3G WWAN card and Windows XP on it.

Ever since the Netbooks showing up on the scene it has seemed a little senseless to spend the money that you typically have to spend for UMPCs or sub Notebook in the traditional sense.

Since 2007 I've switched from being only a Windows user to Apple OS, along with an iPhone, Mac Pro, Mac Mini and a couple of Macbooks. Now lately I enjoy my "DellBook" Mini 9 with OS X and Windows XP (in VMware Fusion).

While I do still acquire various UMPC, MID and other mobile computing devices, I am really longing for something that would be as smooth to use as the iPhone but in a more MID size with 4 to 5" screen but with full OS and sufficient computing power.
